On the afternoon of the 17th, Kakao Bank’s mobile app experienced a temporary connection issue, causing inconvenience to users. The outage occurred for about 20 minutes starting at 3:35 PM, preventing users from logging into the app.

When launching the Kakao Bank app, a message appeared saying “Too many users, connection delayed,” with the number of waiting users surging to over 100,000. The estimated wait time ranged from a few minutes up to a maximum of three hours, causing many users to be frustrated. As a result, even after the actual wait time, login remained difficult.

After the issue occurred, Kakao Bank stated that the problem was resolved around 3:55 PM and the service was restored. The cause was attributed to a program conflict during internal system changes. Kakao Bank officials said they will work to prevent such errors from happening again.

This incident serves as a reminder of how crucial technical stability is for internet-based banks with large user bases. Ensuring customer access to financial services requires system stability and predictable problem-solving capabilities. It is expected that Kakao Bank will implement swift measures in the future to prevent similar technical issues.
