Quick Guide: How to Register Your .eth Domain in 7 Steps
Want a custom Ethereum domain? Here’s everything you need to know to register a .eth domain without hassle.
Step 1-2: Prepare Your Wallet
Open Little Fox (or another compatible wallet) and go to the ENS manager site. Pro tip: bookmark this page, as you’ll use it often to manage your domains.
Step 3: Search for Your Name
Enter the name you want (with the “.eth” extension) in the search bar. The system will show if it’s available or already registered. If it’s free, you’ll get a quote (typically around 50 USDT per year + gas).
Step 4-5: Choose Duration and Pay
Use the +/- buttons to select how long you want it (minimum 1 year). Click “Request Registration” and confirm the transaction in MetaMask. Remember: you need enough ETH in your wallet to cover everything.
Step 6: Waiting Time
This is key: don’t close your browser. The system waits ~1 minute to confirm your transaction and then several more minutes to ensure no one else is registering the same name simultaneously. You’ll see a progress bar.
Step 7: Complete the Registration
Once the wait is over, the orange “Register” button will appear. Click it, confirm again in MetaMask, and you’re done. When the transaction is packaged, your domain is yours!
What’s Next
After registration, set up your ENS records to point the domain to your wallet address. From there, your friends can send you funds using just your .eth instead of your full address (as long as their wallet supports it).
