One diagram to understand: the 9 "lifelines" of company equity, whether you are brothers starting a business as bosses, becoming shareholders, or working in the workplace, can help avoid pitfalls!
67% "Absolute Control Line": Holding more than 2/3 of shares allows for decisive control over major matters such as company mergers and amendments to the articles of association, directly wielding absolute decision-making power.
51% "Relative Control Line": Holding more than half of the shares allows one to determine executives, set annual goals, and have the final say in major operational matters.
34% "veto power": With 1/3 of the shares, you can directly "stop" any major company matters as long as you do not agree.
30% "Tender Offer Line": If public shareholders hold more than 30% of the shares, any further purchases must be made through a public tender offer; they cannot secretly increase their holdings.
20% "Competition Warning Line": Is someone holding more than 20% of the shares and also competing with you? You need to be wary of them stirring up trouble.
10% "Temporary Meeting Line": Holding at least 10% of shares allows you to call a shareholders' meeting yourself and even apply for the dissolution of the company (subject to court approval).
5% "Volatility Warning Line": When a listed company's shareholders hold more than 5%, any increase or decrease in shareholding must be publicly disclosed, and they cannot operate secretly.
3% "Temporary Proposal Line": Holding 3% of shares allows you to propose ideas 10 days before the shareholders' meeting, so everyone can discuss your thoughts.
1% "Subrogation Litigation Line": Even if you hold only 1%, if you discover that executives are violating laws and harming the company, you can represent the company to sue them!
