Next year, Ethereum will迎来 a wave of major updates. Glamsterdam hard fork is already underway, and the changes brought by this upgrade are quite substantial.
First, regarding Gas limits, it will be directly increased from the current 60 million to 200 million, more than tripling. At the same time, about 10% of validators will switch to zero-knowledge proof (ZK) validation mode, which can significantly reduce validation costs. It sounds small, but when combined, these changes have a particularly remarkable effect.
From the Layer 1 perspective, Ethereum's mainnet aims to reach 10,000 transactions per second. What does this mean? Currently, achieving around ten to twenty transactions per second is already quite good. As for data blocks, each block may increase to 72 or more, allowing Layer 2 networks (L2) to unleash their true potential—processing hundreds of thousands of transactions per second.
With this combination, the throughput bottleneck of the Ethereum ecosystem is basically solved. This is a good signal for the Layer 2 ecosystem.
