Over the project timeline extending through 2030, the company will be responsible for sourcing and delivering approximately 928,000 tons of hot-mix asphalt to support the highway’s widening efforts. Beyond asphalt delivery, Knife River will furnish essential materials including sand, MSE backfill, and base course materials on an as-needed basis throughout construction phases.
The infrastructure upgrade encompasses comprehensive improvements such as expanded roadway capacity, reconfigured interchange systems, auxiliary lane optimization, and addition of dedicated bicycle and pedestrian pathways.
