Sei Network has an important announcement for friends holding USDC.n. As of January 8th, the project team officially recommends that everyone convert their USDC.n into native USDC before the March upgrade this year.

Why the sudden urgency? Let’s explain the background. USDC.n is actually a version of USDC issued on the Noble blockchain, and has long been the main stablecoin on the Sei network. But now, Circle plans to directly issue USDC natively on the Sei network, which means the mission of USDC.n is coming to an end.

Regarding the March upgrade, this is a major overhaul for the Sei network—SIP-3 upgrade. After the upgrade, the entire network will shift to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) ecosystem, while gradually phasing out the CosmWasm smart contract framework and the Cosmos native asset system. It sounds like a significant change.

The most critical point is that the project team has clearly stated that after the upgrade, USDC.n tokens are very likely to become unusable on the Sei network, and may even lose all value. This is not a small matter for holders.
