Foreign media: Financial app Betterment sends cryptocurrency scam messages to users
Deep Tide TechFlow News, January 10th, according to The Verge, the financial app Betterment sent a suspicious notification to users on Friday, requesting users to send $10,000 to Bitcoin and Ethereum wallets, promising “triple returns on cryptocurrency.”
According to a screenshot from a Reddit user, the notification claimed: “Betterment is giving back to users! We are celebrating our best year ever, and within the next three hours, we will triple Bitcoin and Ethereum deposits. For example, if you send $10,000 worth of Bitcoin or Ethereum, we will return $30,000 to your sending address.”
Betterment later responded on social media X, stating that this was an “unauthorized message” sent through a third-party system used for marketing and customer communication, and emphasized that this is not a genuine offer and should be ignored.
