US January CPI Forecasts Suspect to Decline, Forecasters Divided
According to the latest statistics, more than 70 analysts have submitted forecasts ahead of the release of the US January CPI data, but opinions on the CPI forecast are clearly divided. The survey results show that the core index is expected to increase by around 0.4%, while most forecasters are more cautious about the overall CPI prediction— the vast majority believe the increase will not exceed 0.4%.
It is worth noting that among all analysts participating in the CPI forecast, only a few expect the core index to rise by 0.4%. This forecast pattern reflects market concerns that this report may show a downside surprise. If the actual data is weaker than expected, it could have a significant impact on the market.
