Stanford University professor and Babylon co-founder David Tse's team has launched the BABE (BAbylon-Berkeley) new protocol— a Groth16 proof verification scheme tailored specifically for Bitcoin. What is the highlight of this technological breakthrough? Cost. The initialization and storage overheads are directly reduced by three orders of magnitude compared to existing solutions, with a very significant performance improvement.

Technologically, BABE integrates two key innovations: witness encryption on linear pairings and the Argo MAC mechanism. This combination greatly simplifies the complex Groth16 verification process, ultimately implemented on the BN254 curve. For the Bitcoin ecosystem, this means more efficient cross-chain interactions and proof verification, opening up new possibilities in scalability and cost control.

Cost directly drops by three orders of magnitude? If that's true, the BTC ecosystem can finally breathe a sigh of relief... However, to be honest, the Groth16 thing is a bit confusing. Can someone explain it in plain language?

Whoa, a three orders of magnitude decrease? This has to take off! The Bitcoin ecosystem is about to heat up.

Oops, David Tse is at it again. This time he really brought the costs down by three orders of magnitude. But to be honest, the verification of Groth16 has always been a bottleneck. Finally, there's some progress. Running this set on the BN254 curve... feels like the BTC ecosystem might have something to play with this time. Wait, could this end up being just on-paper data again? Actual deployment is the real benchmark. The Babylon team is really serious about this. Bitcoin scaling is no longer just talk. With such a dramatic efficiency boost, could it trigger a new wave of cross-chain enthusiasm? I'm a bit excited. Reducing costs by three orders of magnitude is truly impressive, but how it will be used depends on the subsequent ecosystem response. Recently, these Layer protocols are coming one after another. I really feel the ecosystem is heating up.
