According to a report by PANews on November 30, tracking data from the blockchain monitoring platform Lookonchain revealed that the HyperLiquid team recently unstaked 2.6 million HYPE tokens. This operation was valued at approximately $89.2 million at the market price at that time, drawing attention to the team’s funding strategy.

Distribution of 2.6 Million Tokens — Multiple Options

The unstaked HYPE tokens are allocated across several options. The largest portion, 1,088,822 HYPE tokens (worth about $37.4 million at the time), was returned to the re-staking pool. This suggests that the team continues to prioritize long-term profitability. Meanwhile, 900,869 HYPE tokens (worth about $30.9 million) remain stored in the team’s wallet, awaiting future strategic distribution.

Market Sale and Allocation to Liquidity Providers

Part of the funds has been injected into the market. 609,108 HYPE tokens (worth about $20.9 million) were transferred to the crypto asset liquidity provider Flowdesk. This move is considered a strategic decision to ensure liquidity for HYPE tokens and facilitate trading in the market. Additionally, a small-scale transaction involved the direct sale of 1,200 HYPE tokens for 41,193.45 USDC.

Current Market Conditions

As of the time of writing (January 21, 2026), the price of HYPE tokens is around $20.81 each, fluctuating from the price level at the time of unstaking. Such market movements reflect the interaction between HyperLiquid team’s funding management strategy and market volatility.
