The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries recently announced that laboratory tests confirmed that a poultry farm in Iwate Prefecture has been infected with highly pathogenic avian influenza. This is the 20th avian influenza outbreak in Japan this quarter.

Local authorities have initiated on-site inspections and investigations at the farm. Genetic testing confirmed the presence of avian influenza virus in the poultry. The epidemic prevention and control measures are currently underway, and relevant departments will continue to strengthen monitoring.
