Abstract generation in progress

BYD (01211) On Thursday evening (the 5th), they held the launch event for the second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology, claiming that the second-generation Blade Battery can go from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in only 9 minutes. BYD Chairman and CEO Wang Chuanfu stated at the event that charging stops at 97% because the remaining 3% is reserved for brake energy recovery, which helps reduce vehicle energy consumption.

Regarding cold weather charging, BYD claims that the second-generation Blade Battery, tested in Harbin at -20°C, can go from 20% to 97% in 12 minutes, which is 3 minutes longer than at room temperature. In an environment of -30°C, the second-generation Blade Battery also charges in less than 12 minutes.

BYD calls the charging experience brought by the second-generation Blade Battery “Flash Charging”: “Only 9 minutes to full charge qualifies as flash charging.”

Equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery, the Tengshi Z9GT has a range of 1,036 kilometers

According to reports, while achieving flash charging, the energy density of the second-generation Blade Battery has not decreased; it has actually increased by more than 5%. BYD claims that the Tengshi Z9GT equipped with this battery has a range of up to 1,036 kilometers.

In terms of lifespan, BYD states that the second-generation Blade Battery lasts longer than the first generation, and their warranty policy has been enhanced. BYD has increased the overall capacity retention rate of the warranty by 2.5 percentage points, with a lifetime warranty on the battery cells.

Regarding safety, BYD indicates that long-term use of flash charging with the second-generation Blade Battery will not affect safety. It has successfully passed tests including a 2-hour static flash charge cycle with puncture testing, a thermal diffusion test after triggering four battery short circuits, and a bottom impact test with 10 times the new national standard impact force.
