The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology releases the mandatory national standard "Safety Technical Requirements for Car Door Handles"
On February 2nd, it was announced that the mandatory national standard “Technical Requirements for Automotive Door Handle Safety” (GB 48001-2026), organized and formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, has been approved and issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China. It will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The requirements specify that each door (excluding the tailgate) should be equipped with a mechanical release exterior door handle. The vehicle’s safety design should allow the door to be opened via the mechanical release handle in the event of irreversible restraint device deployment or thermal diffusion of the battery. Each door (excluding the tailgate) should be equipped with at least one mechanical release interior door handle, and operating any interior handle independently should be able to open the corresponding door.
