Abstract generation in progress

New York City has filed a lawsuit against Extra Space Storage, accusing the company of “bait and switch business practices” including misleading advertising, unexpected rate increases, and failure to maintain sanitary conditions. The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) lawsuit, the first against a self-storage company in NYC, seeks to halt these deceptive practices and secure restitution for impacted customers, some of whom have lost tens of thousands of dollars due to rat infestations and flooding. This action is part of a broader citywide crackdown on “junk fees” and predatory business practices.
