On February 24th local time, New York State Governor Hochul called on the Trump administration to refund the $13.5 billion in tariffs after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that their large-scale tariff policy was unconstitutional. Hochul stated that these meaningless and illegal tariffs have imposed an additional burden of about $1,751 on the average household in New York over the past year and have severely harmed small businesses in the state. Therefore, New York is demanding a full refund. Previously, Illinois Governor Pritzker and California Governor Newsom also requested the federal government to refund tariffs following the Supreme Court ruling. The White House dismissed these governors’ calls, claiming they have “talked about the issue for decades” and that “Trump is the one truly solving the problem.” (CCTV International News)
