PEI Licensing, the company behind the Penguin clothing brand founded in 1955, has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Florida against Pudgy Penguins. The complaint states that although PEI received a cease and desist letter from Pudgy Penguins in October 2023, the company continued to produce and sell plush toys and clothing through major retailers such as Walmart and Target, damaging the value of the PEI brand. PEI is seeking compensation for all related sales profits and has requested a jury trial. Pudgy Penguins has not yet responded to the matter.
