Ministry of Science and Technology: The Natural Science Foundation Committee needs to deepen the reform of science funding and produce more original results.

On February 12, the National Natural Science Foundation of China held a symposium in Beijing titled “Deepening Science Fund Reform to Produce More Original Results.” Yin Hejun, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, emphasized that at the new starting point of the 40th anniversary, the Natural Science Foundation should seize the historical opportunity of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. It should adhere to the strategic guidance of the “Four Orientations,” deeply understand the laws and characteristics of basic research development, strengthen strategic, forward-looking, and systematic planning of basic research, deepen science fund reform, further improve the funding system, enhance funding efficiency, strengthen talent cultivation, create a favorable scientific research environment, extensively carry out external cooperation and exchanges, expand international cooperation space, strive to produce more original results, promote continuous innovation in China’s basic research development, and make new and greater contributions to building a strong scientific and technological nation.
