Brokerage Research Institutes Focus on Internationalization Track
Gelonghui March 10 | According to Securities Daily, in recent years, amid declining commission income from sub-accounts, securities firms’ research institutes have turned their attention to overseas markets. Recently, Huatai Securities announced that as an important move to expand into Southeast Asia, Huatai Securities, through its subsidiary Huatai Financial Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited, has partnered with SSI Securities in Vietnam to establish a systematic two-way research sharing mechanism. CITIC Securities’ research business continues to expand its coverage of companies and clients, successfully hosting events such as the ASEAN Investment Forum and Japan Investment Forum abroad by 2025, continuously enhancing the international influence of its research activities. Liu Youhua, Research Director at Qianhai PaiPaiNet Fund Sales Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen, told reporters: “The acceleration of securities research business going overseas is driven by multiple factors: First, policy requirements for securities firms to accelerate their move towards becoming top-tier international investment banks, with research internationalization being an essential part; second, the increasing globalization of Chinese companies has led to growing cross-border business demands, providing abundant opportunities for international expansion of research services; third, intensified industry competition combined with declining commission income from sub-accounts has pushed research institutes to seek new sources of revenue; finally, emerging markets have strong complementarities with domestic industries, offering a broad stage for the overseas implementation of research business.”
