The Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) are collaborating across departments to assist China Resources Venture Capital (CRVC) in launching Hong Kong’s first 24-hour, freshly prepared hot food smart dining robot. The robot automates the entire process from order-taking and reheating to serving, applying artificial intelligence technology to local food retail scenarios.

Hey Food smart dining robot, developed by CRVC, integrates innovative mainland technology solutions with local business experience and is officially launched in Hong Kong.

Liu Kai-hsin, Director of the Investment Promotion Agency, stated that the agency has always maintained close communication and collaboration with policy bureaus and departments to continuously optimize Hong Kong’s business environment. The latest announced Budget Speech explicitly promotes the industrialization of artificial intelligence and encourages widespread AI applications. It is very encouraging to see related technologies being implemented in the food and beverage industry, opening new directions for smart retail. This project also fully demonstrates the成果 of cross-department collaboration, enabling innovative technology to be successfully implemented while complying with local regulations and food safety standards. We look forward to more companies leveraging Hong Kong’s business advantages to expand their operations in Hong Kong and other Asia-Pacific regions.

Wu Wen-jie, Director of FEHD, said that FEHD has always encouraged and facilitated innovation within the food service industry to bring more diverse dining experiences to citizens, while ensuring food safety and public health. For this project, FEHD maintained close contact with the involved companies, providing guidance on legal requirements and hygiene standards to facilitate obtaining necessary food business permits. We are pleased to see the project successfully implemented and look forward to more technological applications in the food industry to continuously improve service levels.

Zhang Linjun, Deputy General Manager of CRVC, pointed out that CRVC is committed to building a one-stop overseas service platform to help mainland brands establish a presence in Hong Kong and seek business opportunities. This time, leveraging over twenty years of experience in Hong Kong’s commercial market, they assist mainland companies in establishing technical and operational systems in Hong Kong, fostering a deep partnership with the Investment Promotion Agency to promote the application of innovative food technology in Hong Kong, address livelihood pain points in the food industry, and provide diverse dining options for Hong Kong citizens in remote, busy, and late-night scenarios. Moving forward, they will further expand cooperation to help scale up smart dining operations into a comprehensive network.
