On March 10th, local time, the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate issued a statement saying that Turkish President Erdogan had a phone call with Iranian President Raisi upon request. During the call, Erdogan stated that opening the diplomatic door is urgently needed, and Turkey is making efforts toward this. Erdogan said that illegal interventions by Iran and Iran’s strikes against brotherly countries in the region are unacceptable, and such actions must cease. Erdogan emphasized that regardless of the reason, any violation of Turkish airspace is unforgivable, and Turkey will continue to take all necessary measures to respond. Erdogan expressed deep condolences for the casualties, including children who lost their lives, and hoped that the election of Ebrahim Raisi as Iran’s new Supreme Leader could bring an opportunity for regional peace. Raisi stated that the missile entering Turkish airspace did not originate from Iran, and Iran will conduct a comprehensive investigation into this matter. (CCTV News)
