HSBC
Notice of Changes to Retail Banking Service Charges

Starting from May 1, 2024, for personal accounts and HSBC One customers without a minimum deposit requirement, a fee of HKD 5 will be charged for each check deposited at branch counters.

Currently (until March 16, 2026), for HSBC personal and HSBC One accounts, depositing up to 15 checks at branch counters is fee-free. For more than 15 checks, an additional HKD 1 will be charged per check.

HSBC Premium Customers depositing more than 15 checks at the counter will have fees waived.

For HSBC Wealth Management clients with a total wealth of at least HKD 1 million, HSBC Premier with at least HKD 7.8 million, or HSBC Global Private Banking clients with at least USD 2 million (approximately HKD 15.6 million), the current arrangement of fee exemption for up to 15 checks and HKD 1 per check for additional checks will be adjusted starting May 1, 2024, to be fully fee-free regardless of the number of checks.

Fee Waivers for Checks Deposited at Counter for Customers Under 18 or 65 and Above

Customers depositing checks via the Express Deposit Machine or other non-branch channels will not be charged a fee. Fee waivers are available for individuals under 18 or aged 65 and above, senior cardholders, recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance, government disability allowance recipients, and individuals with physical disabilities or visual impairments. If the check amount is less than HKD 5 or equivalent, the fee may be waived. For deposits of USD or RMB checks into corresponding foreign currency or RMB accounts, the fee will be deducted from the respective account.

Charges for Foreign Currency Cash Deposits Exceeding Daily Limit

Currently, all customers can deposit foreign currency cash at HSBC without a fee. However, starting May 1, 2024, if the total daily deposit amount exceeds the specified limit for each account, HSBC will charge 0.25% of the total daily deposit amount. For HSBC One customers, deposits exceeding HKD 30,000 or equivalent (e.g., HKD 3000, JPY 300,000, USD 5000) per day will incur a 0.25% fee on the total deposit amount.
