Oil Prices Surge | Consumer Council Urges Oil Companies to Provide Clearer Promotional Information

The situation in the Middle East has escalated, leading to a significant increase in the average retail price of unleaded gasoline among five oil companies in Hong Kong. The Consumer Council urges the industry to provide clear information on discounts and pricing.

Consumer Council Chief Executive Gilly Wong expressed deep concern, understanding that oil companies’ pricing strategies are commercial decisions. She hopes that when offering special discounts, transparency can be increased so that consumers can more easily understand any promotions, helping to alleviate their financial burden.
