China Economic Net Beijing, March 10 (Reporter Zhang Jing, Guo Zongzong) This year’s Government Work Report mentions “AI+” for the third consecutive year and for the first time includes “Creating a new form of intelligent economy.” “Science and industry are the foundation of the intelligent economy, and the intelligent economy is the direction of science and industry,” said Lu Weiding, a deputy to the National People’s Congress, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Chairman of Wanxiang Group, in an interview with China Economic Net. “Only with a solid foundation can the intelligent economy flourish; only with a clear direction can science and industry move steadily and far.” Building a strong intelligent economy through science and industry, and leading science and industry with the intelligent economy—these two are deeply integrated, empowering each other.

The intelligent economy is not a castle in the air. The large-scale application and commercialization of artificial intelligence must be rooted in the rich soil of science and industry. Technological innovation is the key variable to break through development “ceilings” and overcome industrial “bottlenecks.” Without a crucial leap in technological innovation, the fundamental basis of a modern industrial system cannot be established.

According to Lu Weiding, developing science and industry and the intelligent economy mainly depends on “people,” focusing on activating the proactive spirit of responsibility. “Only by making every employee a main body of innovation can continuous development momentum be unleashed.” Lu Weiding explained that Wanxiang Group has also implemented a series of institutional designs to enable employees to grow and gain rewards through value creation, achieving mutual progress for the company and its employees.

Faced with the broad prospects of the intelligent economy and science and industry, Lu Weiding also clearly recognizes that science and industry are never smooth sailing but require persistent effort. No matter how policies encourage or how the environment is optimized, the fundamental of enterprises lies in dedicated and pragmatic development. “When every struggler crafts their foundation with craftsmanship, and countless industrial workers work diligently over the long term, China’s intelligent manufacturing will surely stand among the world’s advanced intelligent industries,” Lu Weiding said.
