(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday urged accelerated military and local administrative action to address ongoing energy disruptions and drone threats across the country.

“The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must also act much more swiftly to expand – as previously determined – the capacity to protect the Kharkiv region and other regions bordering Russia from ‘shaheds’ and other attack drones,” Zelenskyy said on Telegram, emphasizing that Ukraine cannot wait for individual units to adjust.

Zelenskyy criticized the slow response of local authorities in some regions, pointing to prolonged outages in cities like Kryvyi Rih and areas in Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava, where infrastructure issues have often taken too long to resolve. While repair teams and emergency services are functioning effectively, not all communities are addressing problems promptly, he stressed, noting that “conclusions must be drawn” from these shortcomings.

He also highlighted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has received additional generator equipment from international partners to strengthen rapid-response capabilities. In Odesa, extra measures are being implemented to assist residents whose homes rely entirely on electric heating, with local officials tasked with providing clear support plans for affected buildings.

Repeated attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have caused extensive damage to the power grid, resulting in both scheduled and emergency electricity outages across several oblasts.
