Grayscale Investments, a leading crypto asset manager, has recently filed an S-1 registration statement with the US SEC, seeking to convert its existing Grayscale Bittensor Trust into an exchange-traded fund (ETF). This move signals that TAO may soon be accessible to US mainstream investors through a familiar financial vehicle.
Upon regulatory approval, this product would become the first US-listed ETP centered on Bittensor (TAO), providing traditional investors with a compliant way to gain exposure.
According to the filing, the fund will directly hold TAO as its underlying asset, with the primary objective of tracking TAO’s market price performance. Notably, the current product structure does not include a staking mechanism. Unless future adjustments are made under specific circumstances, the fund will offer only price exposure, not on-chain yield participation.
If the Bittensor ETF is successfully listed, it will further extend Grayscale’s existing suite of crypto ETFs and trusts. Grayscale already covers a range of major digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, and Chainlink, and continues to await final approval for other crypto asset funds. This underscores Grayscale’s ongoing commitment to institutional crypto investment tools as part of its long-term strategy.
The ETF is planned to list on NYSE Arca under the ticker GTAO. Once the product transformation is complete, it will feature an ETF-aligned structure that provides investors with greater liquidity and transparency.

Grayscale’s move to convert Bittensor Trust into an ETF represents a significant milestone in TAO’s evolution and signals growing acceptance of decentralized AI assets within traditional finance. If approved, the product will give investors a compliant way to participate in TAO’s value movements without directly holding the token and may become a key milestone in bringing AI × Crypto assets into the mainstream market.
