A while ago, I was chatting with some friends who are involved in traditional businesses, and they raised an old question: "What exactly is Web3 useful for? Isn't it just hype?" I didn't argue directly at the time; instead, I showed them a page from a DeFi platform. I told them to put aside those unreliable projects for now and carefully consider what the fundamental competitive advantage of Web3 is—simply put, it's "capital efficiency." Think about it: money in traditional banks earns a tiny interest rate per year, which, to be blunt, is just symbolic tipping. But within the Web3 ecosystem, the potential returns generated by the same amount of capital are on a completely different level. This is the core difference.

The bank's interest is really laughable; Web3 is about actually putting the money to use.

That little interest from banks is really not as good as just messing around in DeFi.

Bank interest rates are indeed stingy, but the returns from DeFi also depend on whether the project is reliable.

I have to say, the idea of capital efficiency really hits the soft spot of traditional finance. Bank interest rates are really not worth mentioning; it's better to just keep the money at home. But honestly, high-yield projects in Web3 also come with huge risks, don't be blinded by APY. Traditional friends need to accept this concept slowly; after all, they prefer stability. DeFi looks great, but the audit vulnerabilities and other issues can't be ignored. High capital efficiency is great, but only if you choose the right platform; otherwise, it's a different story. I agree with this logic. I feel the future of Web3 still lies in this area—solving real problems rather than just hype.
