On December 21, Jameson Lopp, co-founder of the Bitcoin custody company Casa, stated on social media, “I have been publicly discussing the risks posed by Quantum Computing to Bitcoin for 18 months. My main conclusion is: I sincerely hope that the development of Quantum Computing can stagnate or even decline, because adapting Bitcoin for the post-quantum era will be very tricky for many reasons.” Quantum Computers will not break the Bitcoin network in the short term. We will continue to observe its development. However, a thorough overhaul of the Bitcoin network (as well as unprecedented capital migration) could take 5 to 10 years. We should remain hopeful for the best, but also prepare for the worst."
