That said, even when going long, one has to face a pile of resistance above. The old routine is still in effect — every drop requires a re-confirmation of the previous resistance level. So if shorting, if the market is strong, it could reach around 3180, with a typical target at 3110, and only in weak conditions would it go to 3080. How high it can rise still depends on what the market dictates.

It is relatively easy to go long by looking for support in the opposite direction. If 3030 holds, positions can be built in the range of 3030-2980-2950.
