The Trump administration imposes visa bans on former EU commissioners who requested to review Elon Musk's X platform

Breaking News from Mars Finance: On December 24, CNBC reports that the Trump administration has imposed visa bans on Thierry Breton, the mastermind behind the Digital Services Act (DSA) and a former EU Commissioner, along with four individuals involved in anti-misinformation activities, accusing them of censoring American social media platforms. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in a release, “The State Department is taking decisive action against five individuals who organized efforts to pressure American platforms to censor, de-platform, and suppress American viewpoints they oppose. These radicals and weaponized NGOs have driven foreign government censorship and repression—targeting American speakers and companies each time. Therefore, their entry into the United States could have serious negative diplomatic consequences.” According to reports, Breton served as an EU Commissioner from 2019 to 2024. This action was triggered in 2024 when Breton threatened to comply with the Digital Services Act (DSA) after Elon Musk’s unfiltered interview with Trump on X platform, escalating conflicts between the US and EU over digital regulation and free speech.
