WeRide (WRD) and Uber Technologies, Inc. (UBER) have officially launched their robotaxi passenger services in Dubai, with rides now accessible directly through the Uber app. The service deployment spans key tourist destinations including Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, marking a significant expansion of autonomous vehicle offerings in the Middle East region.

Tawasul has been designated as the primary fleet operator managing WeRide’s autonomous vehicles on the Uber platform, handling all fleet management operations and logistics. This partnership structure allows for streamlined service delivery and operational efficiency across the ride-hailing network.

The move represents a broader expansion strategy for WeRide, which is scaling its presence across multiple markets globally. According to Jennifer Li, CFO and Head of International at WeRide, the company is executing an aggressive deployment roadmap with plans to launch tens of thousands of robotaxis by 2030.
