Your chat history and cloud files may seem like "cloud storage," but in reality, they do not belong to you. The platform has the authority to ban, delete, or even spy on them. Walrus is trying to change all of this—restoring users' sovereignty over their data.

Sound complicated? Not really. The team is significantly lowering the usage barriers. The planned Upload Relay, set to launch in 2026, will allow developers to complete integration with just a few lines of code. For ordinary users, it might just be as simple as clicking an "Encrypted Storage" button in the future. Existing Walrus Sites features have already made it possible to build "disconnected websites" that cannot be taken offline.

Even more interesting are the cases of integration with AI. Partner InflectivAI stores AI training datasets after "tokenizing" them, with data usage rights and transaction records fully recorded on the blockchain. Users who contribute data can directly earn rewards. This mechanism effectively solves the long-standing issues of data ownership and unfair incentives in the AI field—users' data contributions can be clearly and measurably rewarded.

Looking ahead, multi-chain support will expand the application ecosystem; privacy layers will continue to deepen, even exploring the use of zero-knowledge proofs to enable secure real-time synchronization of machine instructions. Walrus's goal is not just to be a storage warehouse but to become a trusted cornerstone of data infrastructure in the AI era—ensuring privacy and ownership while making data circulation more transparent and efficient.
