Having been involved in the Web3 storage sector for four years, I have seen countless projects rise and fall in the blink of an eye. Some rely on concept-based funding and then disappear without a trace, some are stuck by technical bottlenecks, and very few can truly focus on refining their products.

The emergence of Walrus breaks this deadlock. From mainnet launch to ecosystem development, from technical breakthroughs to capital recognition, this is not hype but a genuine breakthrough.

Its most remarkable feature is: it transforms the classic "Impossible Triangle" problem of decentralized storage into a situation where you can have both "fish and bear's paw."

The RedStuff 2D erasure coding technology is a highlight among highlights, completely breaking away from the traditional storage reliance on redundant copies. Data is intelligently split into primary and secondary slices, reinforced through matrix coding, and with only 4 to 5 times the replication factor, it guarantees 99.999% data durability. Such performance is rare in the industry.

Friends of mine working with NFTs have personally used it. Previously, storing 600 thumbnail images of collectibles was slow and expensive with other solutions. Later, using Walrus's newly launched Quilt feature, they packaged all images into a single unit and uploaded it directly. The result? Storage costs were cut by a factor of 420. Most importantly, to access a specific image, there's no need to unpack the entire file—speed is surprisingly fast.

This "batch storage + on-demand access" design concept is a timely solution for small file scenarios. Moreover, the launch of SEAL on-chain access control fills a gap in Web3 data privacy—finally enabling fine-grained privacy management on a transparent blockchain.

After four years, I finally see something reliable, not just armchair strategizing.

Four years later, I finally see a project that is not just talk on paper. Walrus has really fought a beautiful battle this time. They truly understand the erasure coding system, reducing costs by 420 times. I need to look at these numbers a few more times to believe it. By the way, that Quilt feature is indeed excellent. Compared to the previous expensive and slow broken solutions, the experience is completely different. Fine-grained privacy control has finally been on the blockchain. I used to think no one could pull this off. However, we need to see it run on a large scale before making any conclusions. Otherwise, it might just be another fleeting "new story."

420x cost reduction? Dude, is this number real, or is it just another marketing gimmick?

Four years and I still haven't seen many that can survive, Walrus this time seems truly different --- 420x? Damn, that number is exaggerated, did your friend really use it? --- Reed-Solomon codes are easy to talk about, but few can actually implement them in production environments, Walrus is one of them --- Privacy control is indeed a pain point, finally someone has the idea --- Don't waste time, I just want to know how stable it really is. If it can run for three months without issues, then I’ll praise it --- The Quilt feature indeed solves the major problem of NFT storage --- Decentralized storage is still the same story, just see how long it can last --- 420x, no way that’s wrong, is there data to support this? --- 99.999% reliability? Sounds impressive, but how it actually performs depends on the implementation --- Those previous projects also sounded good, but where are they now? --- On-demand access without unpacking, this is indeed a clever design

420x? Is this number exaggerated? Has anyone actually tested it?
