Source: HanKyungBlockchain Original Title: U.S. SEC·CFTC Leaders Gather in One Place… Clarifying Divergent Cryptocurrency Regulations
Original Link: https://www.hankyung.com/article/202601237730B The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission( SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission( CFTC) will hold a joint public event to promote the integration of the crypto asset regulatory framework.
SEC Chair Paul S. Atkins( and CFTC Chair Michael S. Selig) will hold a joint event at the CFTC headquarters in Washington, D.C., at 12:00 PM( Korea time on January 27. The event will be open to the public and streamed live on the SEC official website.
Key Topics
The main focus of this event is to strengthen the consistency of crypto asset regulation jurisdiction between the SEC and CFTC. The two agencies have long been embroiled in jurisdiction disputes over security tokens and commodity digital assets, causing market confusion.
In a joint statement, Chair Atkins and Chair Selig said, “Market participants have long had to operate under an unclear and poorly coordinated regulatory framework based on outdated jurisdictional divisions. This event is a continuation of efforts to coordinate, aiming to ensure that innovation can thrive within the U.S. legal framework and be rooted in the interests of U.S. investors, consumers, and economic leadership.”
Both leaders emphasized that this discussion is a concrete step toward the policy goal announced by President Trump to make the U.S. a global hub for crypto assets.
Event Schedule
The event will begin with opening remarks from Chair Atkins, followed by a keynote speech from Chair Selig, and conclude with a fireside chat involving both chairs. The dialogue will be hosted by Eleanor Tret), a professional journalist specializing in crypto assets and co-founder of “American Cryptocurrency.”
