Abstract generation in progress

Telefonica has announced a strategic partnership with Fermax, the Spanish manufacturer of video intercom solutions, to deliver comprehensive IoT connectivity services throughout Europe. The collaboration will extend Telefonica Tech’s managed connectivity offerings to Fermax’s video door entry systems in Spain, France, Portugal, and other European markets.

Scaling Operations with 27,000+ Connected Devices

The partnership has already demonstrated significant scale, with Telefonica Tech successfully deploying connectivity to over 27,000 Fermax video door entry panels. This substantial installation base underscores the reliability of the connectivity infrastructure being provided to support seamless mobile network communications across the region. The expansion reflects growing demand for connected building technologies in the commercial and residential sectors.

Unified Management Through Kite Platform Infrastructure

Telefonica’s technology division is leveraging its Kite platform to deliver managed IoT connectivity solutions that enable Fermax to achieve complete visibility and centralized control over all connected systems. The SIM card-based connectivity architecture allows property managers and building operators to monitor and manage video door entry systems remotely in real time, regardless of their physical location. This centralized approach eliminates operational silos and reduces response times for critical security events.

Market Expansion and Strategic Value

The broader initiative positions Telefonica Tech to expand its IoT capabilities across Southern Europe’s built environment segment. By providing scalable connectivity infrastructure, Telefonica strengthens its position as a key technology partner for enterprises seeking integrated IoT solutions. Fermax gains access to carrier-grade network reliability while maintaining autonomous control over its expanding installed base.

At the time of reporting, Telefonica shares were trading at 3.43 euros, representing a 0.55% decline. The partnership underscores the growing market opportunity for managed IoT connectivity in smart building infrastructure.
