Odaily Planet Daily berichtet, dass der internationale Überweisungsgigant Western Union die Einführung einer Zahlungskarte angekündigt hat, die Prepaid-Aufladungen mit Stablecoins unterstützt. In der aktuellen Phase richtet sich das Angebot vor allem an Länder und Regionen mit hoher Inflation und verfolgt das Ziel, die Integration digitaler Vermögenswerte in Zahlungsdienste strategisch weiter auszubauen. Matthew Cagwin, Chief Financial Officer von Western Union, erklärte, dass die Zahlungskarte in erster Linie für mehr Stabilität der Kaufkraft sorgen soll, insbesondere in Volkswirtschaften mit deutlicher Währungsabwertung – so lag die Inflation in Argentinien im vergangenen Jahr bei über 200 %. Stablecoin-Karten, die auf US-Dollar lauten, helfen den Empfängern von Überweisungen, ihren Wert besser zu erhalten. Darüber hinaus gab Western Union bekannt, dass weiterhin die Einführung eines USD-Zahlungstokens mit dem Namen USDPT vorbereitet wird. Dabei handelt es sich um einen von Anchorage Digital auf dem Solana-Netzwerk ausgegebenen Stablecoin, der ursprünglich für eine Einführung im Jahr 2026 vorgesehen war. (Criptonoticias)
