ChainCatcher Nachrichten, laut Cointelegraph, hat die südkoreanische Polizei in einem Fall, bei dem 22 Bitcoin (Wert ca. 1,4 Millionen US-Dollar) gestohlen wurden, zwei Verdächtige festgenommen. Diese Bitcoins wurden ursprünglich im November 2021 bei einer Hackerattacke auf eine Börse vom Polizei beschlagnahmt, aber die Polizei verstieß gegen Vorschriften und lagerte sie in einer Cold Wallet, die von einem Dritten kontrolliert wurde, wobei die Polizei selbst keinen Zugriff auf die Mnemonik der Wallet hatte.
Berichten zufolge wurde die Mnemonik dieser Wallet später an eine Person namens „Mr. Jeong“ im Rahmen eines Darlehensvertrags übergeben. Der Fall wurde erst nach vier Jahren entdeckt, während einer landesweiten Prüfung im Zusammenhang mit einem weiteren Fall, bei dem 320 Bitcoin im Gwangju Bezirksgericht verschwunden waren.
