The US SEC has dropped 60% of the crypto cases inherited from the Biden era, most of which involve business dealings with the Trump family.

PANews December 15th News, according to The New York Times, when Trump returned to the White House, over 60% of the cryptocurrency cases handled by the SEC at that time were resolved with leniency, with the SEC taking actions to halt lawsuits, reduce penalties, or directly dismiss cases. The US SEC has ceased actively investigating any companies related to Trump. For companies involved in Trump family crypto businesses or those that donated to his political campaigns, the SEC has shown concessions. The remaining cryptocurrency cases currently handled by the agency target some lesser-known defendants with no obvious links to Trump.

According to statistics, during Biden’s term, a total of 105 cryptocurrency cases were filed; during Trump’s first term, 50 cases; and during Trump’s second term, no cryptocurrency cases were filed. In Trump’s second term, the SEC dismissed 33% of the cryptocurrency cases inherited from the Biden era. For cases in other industries, it dismissed only 4%. Overall, the SEC led by Trump inherited 23 cryptocurrency cases—21 from the Biden era and 2 from Trump’s first term, of which 14 have been withdrawn, including eight targeting defendants connected to Trump or his family, with these connections established shortly before or after their cases were resolved. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce stated in an interview that the decisions to dismiss many of these cases are aimed at correcting errors, with no regard to political or financial considerations.
