Trump warns: If the Republicans lose the midterm elections, I may be impeached again

US President Donald Trump recently stated in a closed-door speech to House Republicans that if the Republican Party loses in the upcoming US midterm elections, he is “very likely to be impeached again.” Trump emphasized that the outcome of the midterms not only concerns the Republican control of Congress but also directly relates to his political security in the second half of his presidential term.

Trump said that once the Democrats regain control of the House, “they will definitely find a reason to impeach me.” This statement quickly drew market and public attention. Currently, Trump’s approval rating has fallen to about 42%, with some voters dissatisfied with his performance in addressing rising living costs and handling Epstein-related controversies, and divisions have also emerged within the Republican Party.

Looking at the electoral landscape, Democrats are leading in multiple polls. Data from the prediction market Polymarket shows that the Democrats have nearly an 80% chance of winning control of the House in the 2026 midterm elections. Meanwhile, Republicans still have a significant chance of retaining the Senate, with most forecasts indicating about a 67% probability of maintaining control.

This midterm election is crucial. In November, all House seats and about one-third of Senate seats will be up for election. If the Republicans lose control of both chambers, their policy agenda for the two years following Trump’s term will face serious obstacles, especially regarding the highly anticipated cryptocurrency market structure bill. The bill aims to clarify the US digital asset regulatory framework and is currently being advanced in the Senate Banking Committee.

It is worth noting that Trump is not facing impeachment risks for the first time. During his first term, he was impeached twice by the House, involving the “Ukraine scandal” and the “Capitol Hill incident,” but both times he was acquitted in the Senate. If he is impeached again in the future, the political landscape in the Senate could still be a key variable.

Additionally, some Democratic lawmakers have publicly stated that Trump’s relationships with cryptocurrency projects, meme coins, and related private activities could become new targets for attack. Overall, the results of the midterm elections will not only influence the direction of US politics but could also have a profound impact on cryptocurrency legislation, digital asset regulation, and market expectations.
