According to the Financial Times, Tether is accelerating its expansion with the ambition to transform from a cryptocurrency infrastructure provider into a diversified investment conglomerate. This stablecoin issuer has now built a portfolio of approximately 140 investments across various sectors, demonstrating an expansion strategy that goes far beyond digital assets.

Tether currently has about 300 employees worldwide and plans to hire an additional 150 to support its new growth phase. Alongside scaling up, the company is also strengthening internal governance and financial controls.

Sources close to the matter indicate that new CFO Simon McWilliams is playing a central role in this process, focusing on centralizing financial and operational activities in London. This move is expected to improve transparency, efficiency, and bring Tether closer to the model of a traditional global enterprise.
